Gladiolus 'Peter Pears' is a true summer bloomer that can flower as late as autumn. This richly flowering, large-flowered gladiolus grows to 100 cm and is also a beautiful cut flower. So be sure to plant a row of gladioli in your cut flower garden. Moreover, Gladiolus 'Peter Pears' is very richly flowering and should not be missing in your summer flower garden. The tubers of Gladioli can be planted about 7-10 cm deep in spring. First loosen the soil well and sprinkle a layer of sharp sand at the bottom of the planting hole. This allows rainwater to drain well under the tubers. Place the tubers about 10-12 cm apart. While planting, add some good potting soil. Mix heavy (clay) soil with sharp sand before planting. This large-flowered gladiolus likes to grow in a warm, sunny spot. This large-flowered gladiolus has a beautiful salmon-orange colour and is therefore easy to combine. You can create special combinations in the border with tall perennials and dahlias. Preferably plant gladioli in a different spot each year. Do you use gladioli 'Peter Pears' as a cut flower? If so, pick the stems when the bottom flower opens, preferably early in the morning. Place the stems immediately in a vase of lukewarm water with cut flower food.
