The Yucca rostrata originates from Texas and Mexico, where it can sometimes freeze very hard. These palm lilies can tolerate a short period of frost of -16/-18 degrees Celsius. It is therefore a very hardy palm.
Our Yucca rostrata come from Spain and are well rooted in the pot, making them more suitable for the British climate than the less well-rooted palm lilies imported from South America.
This palm lily stands out because of its striking light brown trunk. In addition, this palm has a beautiful crown structure with hundreds of elongated blue/grey leaves. The older and larger the palm lily becomes, the more it steals the show with its beauty.
The Yucca only needs to be pruned when the leaves turn yellow or start to droop.
Keep this Mediterranean tree free of moisture and snow in winter and protect it with a fleece cover during prolonged frost. The fleece cover should not be left on the tree for longer than 2 to 3 weeks to prevent mould from forming.
All in all, this is a palm tree that stands out because of its characteristic growth.
The trunk circumference is 30 to 40 centimetres and the total height is 90 to 110 centimetres.
