Rooibos Seeds - Buy 10 Seeds?

Family: Fabaceae
Latin name: Aspalathus linearis
Dutch name: Rooibos
Origin: South Africa

Rooibos is a well-known red tea from South Africa and is made from the needle-shaped leaves of this small shrub. The leaf is fermented for this purpose, creating the unique red colour. Green rooibos tea is also drunk and is not fermented. Both types contain a small amount of tannin compared to ordinary tea, making rooibos tea suitable to drink before bedtime. In South Africa, rooibos tea has been drunk since the 19th century, but rooibos was known there for thousands of years as a skin remedy, providing relief from itching, eczema and allergic reactions. As a result, rooibos is also widely used in cosmetics.
The species is native to the west coast where it experiences dry, hot summers and wet, cool winters. As a tub plant, it therefore does well in a sunny spot with occasional water and a cool, frost-free winter. A few degrees of frost is possible.
