Types

They are rich bloomers that display their graceful hanging flowers from July into October. Wonderful as a solitary or as a loose hedge, because of its long flowering period it also combines very well with perennials in the border.

Fuchsia care

Plant the bubble plant in fertile garden soil in a spot in full sun. It is advisable to cover the shrub with a thick layer of fallen leaves before winter. The twigs do freeze back in harsh winters, but that is not a problem.

Fuchsia care also includes pruning. If you cut the entire shrub in early spring just above the ground, it almost always sprouts again and produces plenty of flowers the same year.

Wintering fuchsia

Non-hardy garden forms are easy to overwinter. Put the plants in a cool, frost-free and dark place at the end of October. Or cut the shrubs back sharply and pot them up. It is also possible to take cuttings and overwinter them frost-free. In April, repot in fresh potting soil and set warmer.
