Passiflora ‘Avalanche’ flowers profusely with large white flowers.
In very hot summers the plant produces long egg-shaped orange-yellow fruits after flowering, these are edible but almost tasteless.
Passiflora are climbing plants. With their adhesive tendrils, they can wind themselves around anything. Therefore, it is best to plant them sheltered against a sunny warm wall or fence out of the wind. Because in the wild they use trees and other plants as support, they do not have a sturdy trunk. If you work with garden wire, netting or other climbing material, the plants can easily attach themselves. However, let them find their own way.
By winter, the plant dies to the ground before sprouting again in May/June.
The first few years it is safer to let it overwinter inside, older plants become less sensitive to frost and can then be left outside with winter cover and sheltered (-15°C).
Potted plants are better brought inside in winter.
Plant height
On delivery, the plants have a height of 25 to 40 cm (measured incl. pot). The plants are delivered in pots with a diameter of 9cm.
