Grass in minutes! The fastest annual ryegrass from Barenbrug: SOS! SOS is the Usain Bolt of ryegrass mixtures. Thanks to its fastest establishment, its popularity has exploded in recent years. Handy for renovating and repairing lawns in winter, for example. Overseeding with SOS even guarantees a grass coverage of at least 60% within a month. That is no less than 18 days faster than standard mixtures. Super handy in an emergency!

Overseeding at low temperatures

Of course, you want to be able to start overseeding as soon as possible after winter. Unfortunately, this is impossible for most grass mixtures. SOS, on the other hand, can be overseed at soil temperatures as low as 6 °C. For sports fields, this means that clubs normally have to reschedule their use of the field. SOS puts an end to this. When SOS is sown at the right time, at the end of winter, a high-quality turf is guaranteed. And this is not only beneficial for sports fields. It is also great for lawns! This way, you can enjoy a green and even lawn as soon as the weather is favourable.

Extend the playing season for sports fields?

The playing season depends on the condition of your fields. And extending the playing season is no small feat, of course, because most grass mixtures do not germinate at low soil temperatures. With the SOS mixture, you can start sowing at the end of winter or right at the beginning of spring.

This allows the field to maintain good grass coverage for longer. It also means that fields can be used more intensively than when using a standard overseeding/restoration mixture. So you really can extend the playing season! With SOS, you can get back on the field sooner and keep playing longer, sometimes with up to 100 hours more playing time per year.

Prevent weeds such as street grass

Do you have a bare patch in your lawn or sports field? Then you naturally want to fix it as quickly as possible. Especially when the temperature starts to rise above freezing again. You want to get rid of all those weeds and street grass. And with the SOS mixture, you can! Street grass and weeds only germinate at a soil temperature of 8-10 degrees. SOS, on the other hand, germinates at a soil temperature of 6 degrees. This means that all those weeds and street grass don't stand a chance of sprouting if you act quickly with the SOS mixture. So you literally don't let any (other) grass grow over it! What's more, thanks to the rapid establishment, you'll have an even lawn without bare patches again after about two weeks.

What is the Yellow Jacket coating?

More and more grass seed mixtures are being produced with a coating, including this Play & Sport mixture. This mixture has a 50% coating. The coating simply flows away with water and then adheres to the sand grains. This transforms a hydrophobic soil into a hydrophilic soil. In other words, instead of the soil repelling water, the coating ensures that it attracts water. This improves the water balance and water retention capacity of the soil around the seed. It becomes a survival zone, as it were. In this way, the growing conditions are optimised, ensuring a healthy and fast-growing grass plant.

Another advantage is that the coating makes it unattractive to birds.

Roundup Weed Control for Lawns

ROUNDUP® Lawn Weed Control helps to effectively and specifically control weeds in the lawn.

ROUNDUP® Lawn Weed Killer is suitable for controlling broadleaf weeds in the lawn, e.g. buttercups, daisies, clover and dandelions. For best results, treat the weeds from March to September. Only start treatment once tulips, crocuses, etc. in the lawn have died back.

20 grams of ROUNDUP® Lawn Weed Killer is needed for 1 square metre. This product is therefore sufficient for 50 m2.

Instructions for use:

1. Mow the lawn 2-3 days before treatment.
2. Water the lawn or treat it in the morning when the grass is still wet with dew.
3. Spread the granules evenly over the areas to be treated.
4. Water the treated areas 24 to 48 hours after application.
5. Do not mow the lawn for 2 to 3 days after treatment.

After treatment, bare patches may appear in the lawn. These bare patches can be easily repaired with grass seed. In addition, the grass in the areas you have treated may grow faster. This is due to the fertiliser in ROUNDUP® Lawn Weed Free. The difference in growth may cause colour differences, but these will disappear over time.

It is important not to treat in frost, high temperatures or when heavy rain is expected. Apply ROUNDUP® Lawn Weed Killer no more than once a year. Make sure that during treatment the product does not come into contact with the border or near the roots of trees or shrubs.

Do not use this product when sowing a lawn or if your lawn is less than 1 year old. After using ROUNDUP® Lawn Weed Killer, it is important not to put the cut grass on the compost heap for the first three times.

Caution: Keep children and pets off the lawn you have just treated until the product has been watered in. If ingested or if symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately.
