Planting time March - May

Phlox paniculata 'Sherbet Blend' is a pretty selection for the garden with pink and green flowers. The flowers are twisted in the bud, divided into five petals and a hole in the centre. The flowers spread a delicate fragrance and are attractive to butterflies. Phlox also has the Dutch name vlambloem. Height 70-80 cm.Phlox paniculata 'Sherbet Blend' is a perennial that grows best in open ground. Dig a generous planting hole and loosen the soil well. Improve poor garden soil by mixing in compost and cow manure pellets. Place the root ball of Phlox at the right height in the planting hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Phlox 'Sherbet Blend' grows and blooms well in a spot in full sun or semi-shade and is also an attractive cut flower. Before winter, the stems die off above ground. Cover the plants in winter with a layer of fallen leaves. Give garden fertiliser in early spring. Trim all leaves in spring. Soon new shoots will emerge above ground.
